Job description:

Content & Social Media Coordinator — Part-Time

YELO APLE
Location: 1198 N High Street, Columbus, Ohio
Position: Part-Time
Pay: $17–$22/hour, based on experience

About YELO APLE

YELO APLE is a Columbus-based plant business that has been growing since 2018.

We have a physical retail store, sell plants online through TikTok, host workshops and events, participate in pop-ups, work with brands and businesses, and have built a growing community around plants, business, and our online presence.

Our store is located at 1198 N High Street in Columbus, Ohio, and we're open 7 days a week.

Social media has always been an important part of YELO APLE. However, as the business has grown, our content operation has largely remained on the shoulders of the owner, Bee Yelo.

Bee currently handles a large portion of the content strategy, filming, ideas, posting, coordination, and creative decisions—not only for YELO APLE but also for her personal social media presence, which has a larger audience than the store's accounts.

We're at the point where we need someone to help build the infrastructure behind our content.

That's where this position comes in.

About the Role

We're looking for a Content & Social Media Coordinator who can help turn the constant stream of ideas, moments, products, events, customers, and opportunities happening around YELO APLE into consistent content.

This is not necessarily a traditional "content creator" position.

We're not looking for someone to come in and completely take over the creative direction of the brand.

The owner will continue to have significant involvement in the creative vision, messaging, brand direction, and final decisions about what represents YELO APLE.

What we need is someone who can take the content operation off our plate.

You will help make sure content actually gets created.

You'll help organize what we should be filming, when we should be filming it, what needs to be edited, what needs to be posted, what needs to be repurposed, and what opportunities we shouldn't miss.

You'll be the person helping make sure:

Idea → Plan → Film → Edit → Approve → Post → Repurpose → Track

actually happens.

What You'll Do

Content Coordination

Help organize and coordinate YELO APLE's ongoing content.

This may include:

  • Maintaining a content calendar

  • Organizing upcoming content ideas

  • Turning conversations and ideas into actionable content plans

  • Identifying what needs to be filmed each week

  • Coordinating filming days and content sessions

  • Keeping track of unfinished content

  • Organizing footage and content files

  • Tracking what has been filmed, edited, approved, and posted

  • Making sure content doesn't get forgotten

  • Helping coordinate content around workshops, pop-ups, new plant arrivals, promotions, and store events

  • Looking for opportunities to capture content during normal business operations

  • Helping create systems that make content production easier and more consistent

A major part of this role is keeping the content machine moving.

You should be comfortable saying:

"We talked about filming this last week. Let's get it done."

Rather than waiting for someone to tell you what to do next.

Content Creation

You may participate in creating content, but you will not necessarily be expected to independently determine the entire creative direction of the brand.

Depending on your strengths, you may help with:

  • Filming TikToks

  • Filming Instagram Reels

  • Capturing behind-the-scenes footage

  • Taking photos and videos in the store

  • Capturing new plant arrivals

  • Filming workshops and events

  • Filming products

  • Capturing customer experiences

  • Creating short-form videos

  • Editing short-form content

  • Creating B-roll

  • Creating hooks or variations of existing content ideas

  • Repurposing content across platforms

  • Helping create Stories

  • Capturing spontaneous moments throughout the store

  • Helping document the personality and day-to-day life of YELO APLE

You do not need to walk in believing you know exactly what YELO APLE should look like online.

In fact, we're looking for someone who is comfortable learning our voice, style, audience, and existing content before trying to reinvent it.

Working With the Owner

This position will work closely with Bee Yelo, the owner of YELO APLE.

Bee will remain involved in major creative and brand decisions.

That means this is a collaborative position.

You'll be expected to:

  • Bring ideas to the table

  • Make suggestions

  • Research trends and opportunities

  • Present content ideas

  • Help develop concepts

  • Take feedback well

  • Ask questions when you're unsure

  • Learn what Bee likes and doesn't like

  • Understand the difference between your personal creative style and the YELO APLE brand

  • Execute approved ideas without needing to be micromanaged

  • Help turn Bee's ideas into actual content

The goal is not for you to become another version of Bee.

The goal is for you to become someone Bee can trust to help execute the vision and manage the process behind it.

Personal Brand & Owner Content

Bee Yelo also has a significant personal social media presence outside of YELO APLE.

Depending on experience and fit, this position may also assist with content involving Bee personally.

This could include:

  • Coordinating filming

  • Organizing content ideas

  • Capturing behind-the-scenes footage

  • Filming Bee in the store

  • Helping coordinate content days

  • Organizing footage

  • Editing content

  • Repurposing content

  • Keeping track of ideas

  • Helping coordinate collaborations

  • Supporting content related to entrepreneurship, plants, business, and Bee's personal brand

The exact balance between YELO APLE content and personal-brand content may evolve as the business grows.

Social Media Management

Depending on experience, responsibilities may include:

  • Scheduling and publishing content

  • Writing or assisting with captions

  • Organizing hashtags and keywords

  • Monitoring comments and messages

  • Identifying frequently asked questions

  • Tracking content performance

  • Reporting on basic analytics

  • Identifying which types of content are performing well

  • Researching trends

  • Monitoring relevant TikTok and Instagram trends

  • Finding opportunities to adapt trends to the YELO APLE brand

  • Keeping up with platform changes and new features

You don't need to know everything about every social platform.

We're looking for someone who is curious, pays attention, and learns quickly.

TikTok & Short-Form Video

TikTok is an important part of our business.

We sell plants through TikTok, use TikTok LIVE, and create short-form content to connect with our audience.

You may help with:

  • TikTok content planning

  • TikTok filming

  • TikTok editing

  • TikTok LIVE coordination

  • Product-focused content

  • Educational plant content

  • Behind-the-scenes content

  • Trend research

  • Content repurposing

  • Organizing footage for TikTok

  • Helping identify content opportunities from what's happening in the store

Experience with TikTok is strongly preferred.

Experience with TikTok Shop or TikTok LIVE is a plus.

Content Days & Filming

We're looking for someone who can help make filming more organized and productive.

Instead of:

"We should probably film something today."

We want:

"We have two hours Thursday. Here's what we're filming, here's what we need, and here's what we'll have completed."

You may help:

  • Plan filming days

  • Create shot lists

  • Prepare products and plants

  • Gather props or supplies

  • Coordinate locations

  • Film multiple pieces of content efficiently

  • Capture B-roll

  • Organize footage immediately afterward

  • Make sure nothing gets lost

  • Track what still needs to be edited

Events & Store Content

YELO APLE hosts workshops, pop-ups, and other events.

These create significant content opportunities.

You may help capture:

  • Workshop preparation

  • Event setup

  • Behind-the-scenes moments

  • Customers

  • Products

  • Instructors

  • Pop-up partners

  • Event highlights

  • Educational moments

  • Day-of content

  • Recaps

  • Promotional content for future events

We want someone who naturally sees content opportunities happening around them.

If a beautiful new plant shipment arrives, you should be thinking:

"We should film this."

If we're hosting a packed workshop, you should be thinking:

"We need to capture this."

If a brand is popping up in the store, you should be thinking:

"There are probably five pieces of content here."

Organization

This is one of the most important parts of the position.

You will help keep our content organized.

That includes:

  • Content calendars

  • Ideas

  • Raw footage

  • Edited footage

  • Photos

  • Captions

  • Posting schedules

  • Content approvals

  • Brand assets

  • Templates

  • Analytics

  • Collaboration information

  • Deadlines

  • Upcoming filming opportunities

We want to build a system where we don't lose good ideas simply because everyone is busy.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who is:

  • Extremely organized

  • Creative

  • Proactive

  • Reliable

  • Detail-oriented

  • Comfortable taking initiative

  • Good at communicating

  • Comfortable receiving feedback

  • Comfortable working independently

  • Able to manage multiple projects

  • Good at following through

  • Interested in social media

  • Comfortable learning new tools

  • Comfortable around a camera

  • Comfortable filming others

  • Comfortable being filmed when needed

  • Able to work in a fast-moving environment

  • Excited about plants, retail, entrepreneurship, or lifestyle content

  • Able to understand a brand rather than simply impose their own style on it

Experience We're Looking For

Experience in some of these areas is helpful:

  • TikTok

  • Instagram

  • Short-form video

  • Content coordination

  • Social media management

  • Video editing

  • Photography

  • Content production

  • Marketing

  • Brand management

  • Influencer marketing

  • Social media strategy

  • Canva

  • CapCut

  • Adobe Creative Suite

  • Content calendars

  • Social media analytics

  • TikTok Shop

  • TikTok LIVE

You do not need to be an expert at everything.

We're more interested in your ability to learn, organize, execute, and understand a brand.

What This Role Is NOT

This is important.

We're not looking for someone who simply wants to make whatever content they personally think is cool.

We're also not looking for someone who expects to completely take over the creative direction of YELO APLE.

You will have creative freedom and we're absolutely interested in your ideas.

However, this is an existing business with an existing audience, personality, and brand.

The owner will continue to make final decisions about the overall creative direction and brand.

Your job is to help make that vision happen—and to bring your own ideas to the table along the way.

The Personality We're Looking For

The right person is someone who:

  • Sees content opportunities everywhere

  • Doesn't need to be reminded about deadlines

  • Loves organization

  • Enjoys making things happen

  • Can take an idea and turn it into a plan

  • Isn't afraid to say, "I have an idea."

  • Can also hear, "That's not quite what I'm looking for" without taking it personally

  • Understands that not every creative idea will be used

  • Pays attention to trends without blindly copying them

  • Understands that consistency matters

  • Can work independently

  • Is comfortable in a small-business environment

  • Can adapt when plans change

  • Has good judgment

  • Is excited about building something

Schedule

This is a part-time position.

Our store is open 7 days a week, and content opportunities happen throughout the week.

Scheduling will be discussed based on availability, business needs, filming opportunities, events, and content production.

Some filming may take place during store hours, while other filming or content days may occur outside normal store hours.

Some evenings and weekends may occasionally be necessary for events, special content, or other business needs.

The position is primarily based at:

1198 N High Street
Columbus, Ohio

Why Work With YELO APLE?

YELO APLE has been around since 2018 and has grown from a plant business into a broader community and content-driven brand.

You'll have the opportunity to work directly with the owner and be involved in the behind-the-scenes process of growing a real small business and its online presence.

This isn't a role where you'll be handed the same social media calendar every week.

You'll see new plants arrive, events happen, products launch, customers interact with the business, trends change, and new ideas develop constantly.

If you're someone who loves social media, organization, creativity, and being part of something that's actively growing, this could be a great fit.
