Creative Personal & Business Assistant (Part-Time)
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Pay: $20–$25/hour, based on experience and demonstrated capabilities
Schedule: Approximately 15–30 hours per week, with flexibility based on business needs
About the Role
I'm looking for a reliable, organized, proactive person to help manage the day-to-day details of my personal life and businesses while helping me make meaningful progress toward my goals.
I'm an entrepreneur with multiple projects, a growing business, and plenty of ideas. I work quickly, juggle a lot of responsibilities, and sometimes need someone who can bring structure, consistency, and follow-through to everything happening around me.
I'm not looking for someone who simply waits for instructions. I want someone who notices what needs to be done, takes initiative, solves problems, and helps keep things moving without needing constant direction.
This role combines hands-on personal assistance, business operations, administrative support, and creative project coordination. Some days you'll be organizing inventory, running errands, or shipping orders. Other days you may be coordinating with vendors, handling administrative tasks, or helping move a larger project forward.
I also want someone who can help keep me accountable to my priorities. That means tracking commitments, following up on outstanding tasks, reminding me of important deadlines, and helping me stay focused on my goals—while still managing their own responsibilities and getting things done.
The goal is simple: I want someone who makes my life and businesses run more smoothly, takes meaningful work off my plate, and helps me accomplish things I wouldn't be able to do as effectively on my own.
What You'll Do
Day-to-Day Operations
Organize spaces, supplies, inventory, and ongoing tasks.
Package and ship orders, receive deliveries, and organize inventory.
Run local errands and pick up supplies or materials.
Keep track of supplies and recognize when something needs to be reordered.
Assist with event preparation, setup, breakdown, and transportation.
Help with practical tasks around the store, office, and other projects.
Find ways to make everyday operations more organized and efficient.
Administrative & Personal Support
Manage task lists, reminders, calendars, appointments, and follow-ups.
Draft emails and communicate with vendors, clients, and business contacts.
Organize documents, invoices, expenses, and other administrative records.
Assist with scheduling, hiring coordination, and other operational tasks.
Help coordinate personal appointments, errands, travel preparation, and scheduling.
Keep important details organized so deadlines and responsibilities don't get overlooked.
Handle personal and business information with discretion and professionalism.
Business & Project Support
Help coordinate projects from the initial idea through execution.
Research opportunities, vendors, services, and potential solutions.
Communicate with brands, businesses, vendors, and other contacts.
Help coordinate collaborations, events, and new business initiatives.
Track project progress, deadlines, and outstanding tasks.
Follow up with people and help ensure commitments are fulfilled.
Identify inefficiencies and suggest ways to improve existing systems.
Assist with operational responsibilities such as invoicing, supply ordering, and basic bookkeeping, depending on experience.
Help turn larger goals into actionable steps and keep projects moving forward.
Accountability & Initiative
Recognize what needs attention without waiting to be asked.
Help me prioritize competing responsibilities and follow through on commitments.
Remind me about important deadlines, decisions, and unfinished tasks.
Notice when a project is stalled and help determine the next step.
Take ownership of assigned responsibilities rather than requiring repeated reminders.
Balance keeping me accountable with managing your own workload.
Communicate when something is unclear, delayed, or needs my input.
Look for ways to reduce my workload rather than simply adding tasks to my list.
I want someone who can respectfully say, "You wanted to get this done today. Should we make time for it?" and then continue moving forward with their own work.
I'm not looking for someone to spend their day managing me. I'm looking for someone who can help me stay on track while independently accomplishing the work they've been trusted with.
Creative & Entrepreneurial Support
My work extends beyond the day-to-day operations of a single business. I have creative interests, entrepreneurial goals, and projects that evolve over time.
Depending on your skills and experience, you may also help with:
Researching and developing new business ideas.
Coordinating creative projects and collaborations.
Helping organize content, notes, plans, and ideas.
Assisting with filming, photography, or creative projects.
Researching potential partnerships and revenue opportunities.
Helping move new initiatives from the planning stage into action.
I'm open to someone bringing their own strengths and ideas to the role. I value people who think critically, see opportunities, and contribute beyond the minimum expectations of a task.
What I'm Looking For
The right person is:
Highly organized: You have systems for managing tasks, deadlines, details, and competing priorities.
Proactive: You notice what needs to be done and take action without waiting for instructions.
Efficient: You work at a reasonable pace, know how to prioritize, and avoid overcomplicating straightforward tasks.
Resourceful: When you don't know how to do something, you look for solutions and know when to ask for help.
Dependable: You show up, communicate, meet commitments, and follow through.
Accountable: You own your mistakes, address problems promptly, and work to prevent them from happening again.
Adaptable: You can handle changing priorities without becoming overwhelmed or taking changes personally.
Independent: You can manage responsibilities without constant supervision.
A strong communicator: You communicate clearly, professionally, and in a timely manner.
Comfortable with feedback: You can receive direction, make adjustments, and learn how things are done.
Trustworthy: You understand the importance of confidentiality when working closely with someone's personal life and business.
Hands-on: You're comfortable moving between computer work, errands, inventory, physical tasks, and other practical responsibilities.
You don't need to know how to do everything on day one. What matters is that you have a strong foundation in organization, judgment, initiative, and follow-through—and that you're willing to learn.
Pay & Experience
The pay range is $20–$25/hour, depending on experience and demonstrated capabilities.
The starting rate will reflect the skills, experience, independence, and level of responsibility you can bring to the position.
Candidates at the lower end of the range may have strong potential, a good work ethic, and a willingness to learn, but may need more training and guidance as they get started.
The higher end of the range is reserved for someone who brings substantial relevant experience, strong organizational systems, sound judgment, and the ability to take ownership of responsibilities with minimal direction.
At the higher end, I'm looking for someone who can bring skills and capabilities that complement my own, solve problems independently, and take meaningful responsibilities off my plate from the beginning.
I'm happy to invest time in helping the right person learn my preferences, systems, and business. However, I'm not looking to build fundamental skills like organization, prioritization, initiative, efficiency, and accountability from scratch.
Experience alone doesn't determine pay. I want to understand what you can actually do, how you approach problems, and how independently you can work.
Experience & Qualifications
Experience in one or more of the following areas is helpful:
Personal or executive assistance.
Administrative or operations support.
Project coordination or project management.
Small-business operations or entrepreneurship.
Scheduling, organization, and logistics.
Vendor, client, or customer communication.
Inventory management, shipping, or retail operations.
Event coordination.
Basic bookkeeping, invoicing, or payroll support.
Content creation or creative project support.
A degree isn't necessarily required. I'm interested in practical experience, demonstrated skills, good judgment, and the ability to get things done.
A reliable vehicle and comfort driving locally are preferred, as some responsibilities may involve errands and transporting supplies. Any use of a company vehicle would be arranged as needed.
What This Role Is—and Isn't
This isn't a traditional desk job, and it isn't a position where every task will be laid out for you in advance.
Some days will be structured, while others will require flexibility and quick decisions. You may begin the day answering emails and organizing a project, then switch to picking up supplies, preparing shipments, or helping with something unexpected.
I'm not looking for someone who needs constant direction, spends excessive time on simple tasks, or waits for me to notice when something hasn't been completed.
I'm looking for someone who can take an idea or responsibility, figure out the next steps, and follow it through. Someone who knows when to make a decision independently and when a question or approval is necessary.
I'm also not expecting perfection. Mistakes happen, priorities change, and there will be things you haven't done before. What matters is how you respond, communicate, solve problems, and learn.
Values & Working Relationship
I value kindness, honesty, accountability, inclusivity, open-mindedness, and respect for others.
I want a working relationship where communication is direct, feedback is welcomed, and both people can be honest about what is working and what needs to change.
Because this role involves working closely with me, I need someone who can maintain professional boundaries while still building a comfortable, trusting relationship.
I appreciate a good sense of humor, a willingness to learn, and someone who can stay grounded when things get busy.
Schedule & Growth
This is a part-time, at-will position, ideally around 15–30 hours per week. Scheduling may vary depending on projects and business needs, and some flexibility is important.
My goal is to find someone who can grow with me and my businesses. For the right person, there may be opportunities for increased hours, greater ownership, and a transition to a full-time position as the business develops.
I'm interested in building a long-term working relationship with someone who wants to contribute, develop their skills, and become a trusted part of the business.
